"Something is Off!...When Hyperpigmentation Appears!

It can sound like and look like a really big deal, but what actually is hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation is in essence inflammation and is a sign that “something is off.” It is the darkening of skin caused by increased melanin.

What are some of the leading causes of hyper pigmentation?

Causes of abnormal melanin production include hormonal changes (pregnancy, menopause), certain drugs and supplements, blunt trauma, hyperthyroidism, Addison’s disease, diabetes, laser trauma, chemical peeling, and increased sun exposure/photo trauma.

Now that we know some of the possible causes….

How is Hyperpigmentation commonly treated?

*Remember, products you put on your skin will either sit on top (be ineffective) or be absorbed (be effective but potentially systemically toxic).

Here are the usual culprits you'll find in products used to treat hyperpigmentation:

Hydroquinone: A chemical originally used to develop black and white photos and x-rays, as well as to preserve rubber goods. The side effects of hydroquinone use include eczema, inflammation, psoriasis, asthma, birth defects and a condition called Exogenous Ochronosis which causes skin to produce blue and black pigment.

Kojic Acid: From a fungus, it has been shown to cause dermatitis and cell mutations (i.e. cancer) in mammals. It is toxic to the liver, kidney, and reproductive organs.

Retinoids: A chemical compound that becomes toxic when exposed to sunlight. (DNA Skin's Supernatural Vitamin A Serum™ is a far better alternative- as it contains pure, non-synthetic Retinol (Vitamin A). It aids in lightening discoloration without adverse reactions or being systemically toxic.)

Now let's explore healthier ways we can treat hyperpigmentation that are equally, if not more so, effective.

At DNA we capitalize on inhibiting and regulating melanin while supplying the skin the natural constituents it needs: DNA, RNA, amino acids, peptides, tyrosinase inhibitor, lipids, enzymes, etc. We offer a variety of products to regulate melanin production and protect the skin. They are:

Skin Lightening Line

Don’t just inhibit pigment, regulate it with the DNA Skin Lightening Line which uses ferulic acid (a powerful antioxidant), white tea, walthera indica extract, AHA acids, and other powerful antioxidants. These 100% natural, herbal products have shown that lighter and brighter skin can be achieved without the use of other potentially harmful lightening and bleaching ingredients.

Derma-CLR™

There is also an oral product that helps lighten the skin: Derma-CLR™. It is a supplement that is an effective antioxidant that maintains skin’s elasticity and healthy color. It contains a pure form of L-glutathione. It helps to lighten the skin’s hyperpigmentation by inhibiting melanin production and diminishing the signs of aging (wrinkles, age spots, increased pore size, dryness, etc.).

Vitamin C

As we age, the amount of Vitamin C we need internally and topically increases. We make less reconstructive enzymes as we age, increasing the need to repair cells in other ways. Epidermal levels of Vit. C diminish 425% by middle age. DNA MediClear Vitamin C is the most active and stable topical Vitamin C available. It can be cocktailed with any product in the skin care line to instantly turn that product into a powerful antioxidant. When taking Vitamin C internally, be sure it is of high quality. Try the Esther C.

Sunscreen

It’s important to know… Chemical sunscreens generate more free radicals on human skin after one hour of sun exposure than are generated on untreated skin. In essence, by wearing a chemical sunscreen, skin is twice as compromised. Any antioxidants added to a toxic mesh of chemicals become pro-oxidant, meaning they cause cellular damage to skin. Good news is that i.Bar Beauty offers sunscreens which are natural and chemical free.

Non-Chemical Skin Lightening From The Inside Out

Non-Chemical Skin Lightening From The Inside Out

NEW! DNA DERMA CLR™

A non-chemical way to lighten pigmentation and cleanse blemishes, promoting a flawless and fairer complexion. (Noticeable results can be seen in as little as 3-4 weeks.)

Age spots, scars and other skin irregularities are reduced by the effects of this product. Clinical studies confirm that this formula has a preserving and radiating effect upon the skin.

Derma-CLR not only aids the skin but is also involved in detoxification, antioxidant function, and improves the immune system of the overall body. Derma-CLR ™ is formulated to help the body cleanse oxidative blemishes on the skin and promote a flawless and fairer appearance.

* Produces a healthy glow and nourishes the skin

* Reduces and prevents aging spots and hyperpigmentation

* Delays premature aging and wrinkles

* Prevents and removes pimple and other wound scars

* Derma-CLR is an extremely effective antioxidant which is designed to help maintain the skin’s elasticity and healthy color.

This product contains a pure form of L-glutathione manufactured in the US, and can be added to any skin care regime. Derma- CLR helps to lighten the skin’s hyper-pigmentation by inhibiting darker melanin production and reverse the aging process.

L-glutathione blocks harmful toxins from within the body and helps to remove toxins that normally cause damage to the skin and internal organs.

Derma-CLR™ functions as a supplement for the overall health of the body, but it also has a unique effect for those who desire to have fairer and lighter skin. In certain dosages, Derma-CLR™ will lighten skin with a noticeable difference within 3-4 weeks.

Other important nutrients for the skin include:
* Alphy-lipoic acid: Helps the body to naturally synthesize the body’s own antioxidants.
* Vitamin C: Is a very important nutrient for the skin which allows the body to synthesize L-glutathione more effectively.
* N-Acetyl cysteine: Is a building block of the body’s own natural antioxidant production.
* Leucine: Is an important nutrient for healthy skin cells and helps to diminish fine lines and sagging skin by improving the skins natural elasticity.
* Proline & glycine: Aids the body by helping the skin to look youthful and smoother.
* Binrgaraj leaves (Eclipta alba): Is a natural remedy for blemished skin.
* CoEnzyme Q10: is involved in aiding the body to keep cells inside the body and the skin healthy.

Suggested Use: As a dietary supplement, take 2-4 capsules daily between meals, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner.
Warning: If you are pregnant or nursing, consult your health care practitioner before taking this product.

Warning: Glutathione as a supplement is not normally recommended if you are taking chemotherapeutic or anti-psychotic drugs. Avoid too much sun and harmful UV rays by wearing sunblock. Avoid drinking or smoking as doing so will deplete the glutathione levels in the body.
