Coconut oil has proven to be more than just a "trending topic" - instead, it has continued to garner more and more praise within the beauty industry, often touted as the latest all natural “miracle product.” It is known to provide a myriad of health benefits, both by means of ingestion, and as a topical treatment. When applied topically, it is especially beneficial to the appearance of skin. Studies have shown that individuals with dry skin benefit from the topical use of coconut oil because it improves the skin’s moisture and lipid content.
By now, most of us know that popular beauty products contain harmful ingredients that are drying and carcinogenic. These harmful ingredients include petroleum, which suffocates the skin, and alcohol, which is over drying. Using coconut oil as part of a skincare regime is an effective and safe way to lessen your exposure to these, and other toxins, without having to sacrifice any benefits of a beauty routine.
How to Make your Own
If you run out and are not currently using our Body Nectar, below is a list of how to use coconut oil for the skin:
- Warm the oil either in the jar in warm water, or in the palm of your hands.
- Use a small amount of the oil to allow it to fully absorb into the skin.
- Add essential oils to the coconut oil as desired.
- Coconut oil is also great for exfoliation. Using it by itself naturally helps to clear away dead skin cells but it can also be combined with other exfoliation agents such as sugar.
When used regularly, coconut oil can help restore moisture to the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. And remember, it can also be used as a supplement as a way to nourish the skin from the inside out.
